Our client is a manufacturer of high-quality leather footwear with a wide range of products. His footwear is in demand and is sold on various marketplaces as well as on his own websites. However, with this diverse array of sales platforms comes a challenge: how to ensure consistent pricing and maintain the brand’s reputation?
The task at hand was not an easy one: to create a system that would help our client monitor the prices of his products across multiple sellers. Deviation from the recommended prices, especially if it exceeds 10%, could seriously affect how the brand is perceived by customers and impact profitability.
To address this challenge, we developed a comprehensive system, leveraging our expertise in this area. The system includes parsers for each of the roughly twenty platforms where our client’s footwear is sold. Some websites have robust anti-scraping mechanisms, so we had to use tools like Selenium and find various ways to bypass these protections. The development process took about a week, followed by a couple of days of testing and fixing issues identified by the client.
How does our solution work? Every night, the parsers run to collect pricing data from all the platforms where the client’s products are listed. By morning, the client receives a fresh report in Excel format. The first column contains a list of products, and the subsequent columns show the prices from each seller. To make the analysis easier, we implemented a color-coding system: cells with prices close to the allowable threshold are highlighted in yellow, while those exceeding the limits are highlighted in red. This immediately draws attention and helps the client quickly identify problem areas.
The results were immediate. Now, every morning, the client receives up-to-date pricing information, allowing him to promptly contact sellers if significant deviations are found. This not only helps maintain the brand’s reputation at a high level but also ensures control over profitability.
We’re already discussing the next steps for expanding the system. As the client’s network of sellers grows, he wants to increase the number of monitored sources. Additionally, we’re considering automating the response to pricing violations and introducing more advanced analysis methods, such as predicting potential deviations using machine learning.
This solution helps our client not only save time on price monitoring but also significantly improve internal sales management processes. We’re proud to have contributed to his success.
